In their first television interview, the parents of 19-year-old Katherine Ferruzzo are demanding changes from Camp Mystic, where their daughter died in last summer’s devastating floods. Katherine had attended Camp Mystic for 10 years and was the last counselor to be found after the flooding that killed 27 at the camp and more than 135 people across the Texas Hill Country.

The Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation recently announced a special donation to the Hunt Independent School District, aimed at strengthening special education programming at The Hunt School.

The parents of the 25 young campers and two teenage counselors at Camp Mystic, swept away in a catastrophic flood on the Fourth of July, were paralyzed with sorrow. 

At 2 years old, the future Camp Mystic counselor was diagnosed with developmental delays and began attending a school for children with special needs. She quickly caught up with her typically developing peers, but her parents kept her at the school through the end of the year. Many of those classmates became lifelong friends.
