Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation Supports Alamo Heights ISD Special Education Teachers
The Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation was honored to attend Alamo Heights ISD’s “Special Education Academy” professional development day on Friday, August 7, supporting local Special Education teachers and learning more about the district’s specialized programs.
Through the foundation, 10 sets of errorless learning file folders were provided to support Special Education teachers and students in Alamo Heights ISD classrooms. The foundation also partnered with MadSlime, who generously donated 25 jars of sensory slime for local Special Education classrooms.
In addition to providing classroom materials, the foundation worked with Alamo Heights ISD to identify ways volunteers can help give teachers the gift of time. Plans are underway to organize San Antonio-area volunteers for “cutting up parties,” where volunteers will prepare learning materials for classroom use. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to assist teachers as they move back into their classrooms and prepare for the upcoming school year.
The Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation is committed to supporting Special Education teachers by providing meaningful classroom resources, creating opportunities for community involvement, and helping educators focus more of their time and energy on their students.
